Public Address Events

Note: Event descriptions align with Cadence's curriculum. NSDA and other circuits may have their own descriptions that contain minor discrepancies.

Impromptu

Impromptu is our most beginner friendly event. Students are given a short quote. They are given 8-15 minutes (depending on their experience level) to create a 3-5 minute speech on their interpretation of the quote. 

Oratory

Oratory, also known as original oratory, is a 5-8 minute persuasive speech on a topic of your choice. Topics usually target societal problems, both large and small, and offer solutions directly applicable to your audience.

Informative

Informative, often just called "info", is a 5-8 minute informational speech on a topic of your choice. 

Sales

Sales, also called "business pitch", is a 4-5 minute speech that markets a product or service to your target audience. You must choose a product that already exists.
